The Truth
Since abortion was legalized in the U.S. in 1973, more than 52 million lives have been terminated by abortion. From the time of conception, a fetus is a human life with its own unique genetic makeup. After 20 days, the heart begins to beat and pump blood throughout the baby’s body. The evident truth is that abortion violently ends a human life.
According to recent statistics released by the Ohio Department of Health, in 2008 there were 29,613 abortions performed in Ohio. 41.7% of all abortions performed in Ohio in 2008 were performed on African-American women and their child. It is estimated that African-Americans make up 12% of Ohio’s total population (US Census Bureau). The truth is that a definite disproportion exists, and that it is time to speak up for the unborn in all communities.
